The Terracrux Games PAO is in the books. Ten players came down to battle for a chance to win the limited “Tournament Champions” printings of the 3-cost prestiges. This very rare, very cool prize support resulted in players bringing their A-Game.
Full deck lists can be found here
1st Place – 3 Color Rend
Aaron Wallace
This deck continues to look like the boogeyman, taking down another PAO, and this time in the hands of a new player. This is the Red, Yellow, Blue deck featuring Crucio, Jeremiah, and Samira. That is two Yellow dice in the hero line, alongside the consistent modify of Samira, resulting in immediate pressure on the opponent’s hand. Aaron opted for a list more like Steven’s list from 3 weeks prior than Adam’s, meaning it featured 3 Federation Starfighter and 3 Chain Plasma Rifle. Aaron cut the Tyryn Grand Halls, opting instead to include 2 Fragmentation Grenades and an Apprehend, so that he could be a little more reactive.
2nd Place – Red Blue Attachment Aggro “Lucca Rylo”
Adam Hockemeyer
Adam opted to leave the rend dice at home, and showed up to this event on pure aggression. Leading theory is that this deck has a positive matchup against 3-color rend, although that ended up being Adam’s only loss on the day in the finals. 1 Into the Night is proving to be typical in Season 2 Lucca Rylo decks, and Adam opted to include a Ballistics Operative, seemingly to attack the Starfighters, Plasma Rifles, Grand Halls, and Frag Grenades that are littered about the Rend decks.
3rd Place – Blue Yellow ‘6-gem’
Ambrose Ingram
While this deck is archetypally similar to the list that brought Issa Shaw to the Season 1 MPL finals, Ambrose’s list is very different. While Issa was on mostly 1s and 5s, with Masquerade, Ambrose is trying to play two 3-cost characters on round 1. This is possible with the help of Jaques di Tyryn from Docide Underworlds, which means Ambrose has two Gem 15s that both provide for characters. Ringmistress, Daring Saboteur, and Subdued procession all allow this deck to be much more of a brawler starting as early as round 1. He still has the powerful Energy Retracer and Orchestral Conductor, so other than the gems that can be gamed from Masquerade itself, Ambrose boasts the same oppressive top end.
4th Place – Jaliah Rhone in Red Yellow Robots
LL Hubbard
LL has been grinding the same deck for over a year now, and with the inclusion of Garage Lackey and Discharge Drone from Docide Underworlds, Rhone is now packing enough punch to get to LL to the top tables. This is a deck that threatens a very aggressive floor by being able to play a critical mass of 1-cost servos which all roll Red due to Rhone. It also has the brawling power of Energy Retracer, Orchestral Conductor, and even Chain Plasma Rifle. Finally, it includes Animus Golem, which allows it to wildly over the top against opponent’s who pack insufficient interaction.
6 Points – Green Blue Yellow Ramp
Alex Peele
The poor man who missed the Top 4 on breakers, Alex brought an innovative new Ramp deck featuring Survey Shuttle, Tithe Payer, and Change the Terms. He got up to 15 locales multiple times, and the point of this deck is to draw cards off of Starlet, create bonus locales in the early rounds, and get yourself into a point where you can afford to both remove your opponent’s support objects, and play dice interaction like Diplomatic Meeting and Change the Tide, with the intent to win the game ‘later’. His only loss on the day was the LL’s Jaliah Rhone deck, because he could not keep up with the critical mass of cheap threats that she presented.
